40 Halloween Scavenger Hunt Ideas for Kids, Teens and Adults
Updated September 8, 2026 7 min read
Halloween is the one night of the year when the whole neighborhood is already decorated, everyone is in costume, and strangers expect to be approached. It is the easiest scavenger hunt you will ever run. The lists below cover trick-or-treat night with kids, a costume party for adults, and a Halloween week hunt at the office.
Plan 15 to 20 clues for about an hour. Run it in teams so nobody walks alone, and put the leaderboard on a phone at the candy table so teams check standings between stops.

Tips for running it
- •For kids, make the final clue a GPS check-in at home so every group finishes at the same place.
- •Photo submissions land in the judge panel with timestamps, so the deadline is enforced without arguing.
- •Publish the leaderboard link in the party group chat before the night starts.
